Birds Visit @ Mr. Salleh's House

Saturday, June 05, 2010 @ 4:06 PM

::30th May 10::

Too many back dated posts to blog!
Too little time to blog!
Some of which I can hardly remember what it's about already O.Q

Short post is short :(

Mr. Salleh, my secondary school Geography teacher, has invited Damien and his friends, Gavin and Gerald, over to his house to see his pet birds! :D Yep, Mr. Salleh is now my brother's Geography teacher as well :) I was very interested as well; and since my GV work only starts at 5.30pm... I invited myself over :X

We were able to bring Koko and yipyip over too as he is staying in Blk111A which is the block right beside mine :D

Photobucket
One of the very few times yipyip gets to go out of the cage! :X

With that, all four of us went over to his house :) & wow, Mr. Salleh has two birds, one cat, a huge aquarium and pitcher plants as house plants! As a Geography teacher, he is so awesome!! I also got to meet his adopted son, Hamza. He's cute and loves to ask lots of questions ^_^''''

Here are some pictures of his pets :P

Greater Indian Hill Mynah - Captain

Photobucket
Standing proudly!

Photobucket

Captain here is able to talk and makes all sort of interesting sounds like coughing (which sounds very real D:). He's very fierce and fearless (thus the name Captain), so he was not allowed out of the cage for fear that our small birds might be attacked by it! & silly yipyip kept trying to walk over to his cage @.@ Captain's actions are really quick that if you drop food from above the cage, he is able to catch it with his beak!

Red-Sided Eclectus Parrot - Emmett

Photobucket
Curious lil' bird :D

Photobucket
Pretty boy~

Photobucket
Lovely green~
♥ its beak!

Photobucket
Emmett & Mr. Salleh

Photobucket
Koko likes Mr. Salleh too!! D:

Photobucket
So cute!! :3

Photobucket
It's heavy @.@!
Heavier than Koko!! Dx

Emmett here, is a Red-Sided Male Eclectus Parrot. This is the only species of parrots where their sexes can be determined by their coloration. Males are green and females are red :P Amazing, eh? Emmett is really good in talking (sounds like a real human!) and also do selective mimicking of words xD But he seems to be very shy when there's new humans around him; he didn't seem to want to talk at all :( ...Nevermind! He looks so cute and pretty in his green feathers!♥

Ragdoll Cat - Morgan

Photobucket
Such a gorgeous cat!

Photobucket
Me carrying him! :D

Why are they called Ragdolls?
They go limp like ragdolls whenever they are happy, relaxed or asleep... :3
So I had some difficulty in carry him :X Really soft and limp! I was so afraid that I might drop Morgan @.@ And he didn't really be bothered by the birds around him xD

Pitcher Plants

Photobucket
Looks like the ones I saw at Tuas Grassland!

Photobucket
Well, except for this one...
which is pretty big and instead of a lid, it has red lips @.@

Aquarium

Photobucket
Plecostomus!

Photobucket
Some weird white worms...
Mr. Salleh didn't know how they come about @.@

Photobucket
Shrimps feasting on dead fish xD

Pied Lovebird - yipyip
long time no see yipyip, right? :D

Photobucket
Emo bird :(

Photobucket
FLASHER! xD

Anyway, after that, we brought Koko and yipyip home to rest. And then we met up with Mr. Salleh and Hamza to play catch with the Frisbees at the grass area in front of our flats. My brother brought down his boomerangs! He and Gavin have already mastered in throwing them D: It was really awesome to see how high the boomerangs flew and also scary to see it missed Hamza by a bit each time :\ So Mr. Salleh banned them from throwing them :X I tried throwing the boomerang too but I couldn't make it fly at all; so I gave up :(

Later on, I have to leave them to head to work. Box office from 5.30pm to 10.35pm. And I went out with the GV staffs for a very late supper at Chao Ren Da Guan after our Despicable Me box office decorating task :)

Photobucket

Photobucket
Luncheon meat and egg ding noodles (dry);

::Singapore Zoological Gardens::

Sunday, November 01, 2009 @ 1:40 AM

::23rd Oct 09::

Ahem~ Now that I'm back from Batam. I'm going to continue with my going-to-be-expired posts :D

Thanks to Joshua's mama for the passes. 8 free tickets! I'm able to bring my family/relatives and including XueNi into the Singapore Zoological Gardens for free! Well, except we've got one extra person so we just pay a child ticket which costs $9.

Photobucket

Had breakfast at CCK, Lot 1's McDonald's, before taking bus927 to the zoo. We had to wait very long for the bus to come. Probably not a lot of people go there on a weekday, maybe only tourists.

Photobucket

Anyway, when we reached the zoo, I was right! There wasn't a lot of people there. I was extremely pleased xD Because the previous time I went, it was overcrowded with people. I didn't have to queue up to see the animals or wait behind to take turns to see the animal in the enclosure. Especially if the place was really small, it will be very cramped with all those people in there :\ And also I didn't get to see some of the animals like the elephants and the orangutan. But I did manage to see them this time.

It's a pity that XueNi had forgotten to bring her SD memory card for her big-ass camera. So she had to use her iPhone to take pictures instead. Luckily her iPhone camera isn't that bad, unlike my handphone camera. So This Is It. A picture spam D: Though I didn't take a lot of pictures like the previous trip, unlike my uncle who kept taking pictures of everything :X For me, I didn't want repetitions.

Photobucket
Relatives from my mama's side :D

Photobucket
XueNi and me~

Photobucket
A scarlet macaw :D

Photobucket

Photobucket
Babirusa! xD

Photobucket

Photobucket
White tigers. Pretty cats ;)
And we saw one shitted into the water :\

Photobucket
Pygmy hippos!

Photobucket
Baby pygmy! So cute! :3

Photobucket
WeiQi with the hippos cut-outs.
So much bigger than her! xD

Photobucket
With that, we entered into the "Australian Outback" zone.

Photobucket

Photobucket
Mushrooms I saw O_O!

Photobucket
Chibi grass tree :P

Photobucket
No!~ I do not want to be cratedddd D:

Photobucket
Beautiful sight.
& I didn't know their testicles are that huge :X

Photobucket
Ooh!~ Boobies~~ :P

Photobucket
Ahem... :$

Photobucket
Silly stuns and a heart that doesn't look like one,
beneath a doorway made out of branches xD

Photobucket

Photobucket
Sweet lil' tamarin.
XueNi likes it a lot!

Photobucket
Yay! Finally I got to see elephants :D
& also... to see it shit :\

Photobucket
With my mama :)

Photobucket
My aunt and mama :D

Photobucket
I love cows :D
Especially 6 spotted ones!

Photobucket
Photobucket
Watched Splash! Safari show at the Splash Amphitheatre.
Carlos is such a clever charming seal :D

Hmm, while we were looking at giant tortoise and porcupines at the "Critters Longhouse" and "Sungei Buaya" area, it began to pour :( Not very heavy but it dampened our mood a little. I mean no one could fully enjoy their excursions in the rain right? Unless it is indoors then I've got nothing to say. We opened our umbrellas and made our way to the "Rainforest Kidzworld" to shelter from the rain. I shared my umbrella with XueNi. Rested at KFC and had a light lunch.

Photobucket
Poor pony. Seems so sad in the rain :(

Photobucket
Cheese fries with no spring onions! xD

Photobucket
Can't wait to see the giraffes! :D

Luckily the rain did stop! :D However, since we are at the zoo... the aftereffects of the rain made the shit of the animals smelled so much stronger than before D: It was suffocating. Anyway, we somehow managed to complete our rest of the journey without fail.

Photobucket
Lucky monkey D:

Photobucket
Try to spot the frogs at the "SPH Foundation Conservation Centre"

Photobucket
So cute! *pets horned frog statue*

Photobucket

Photobucket
Entering the "Fragile Forest".
Please watch your steps.
This area is very much like an aviary... Well, I do not know the actual name for it but it has animals, insects and birds as well. So you can actually see the animals flying past you and passing by you. It's really cool :)

Photobucket
Pretty sad that due to the rain,
a lot of butterflies like this tree nymph were unable to fly.
AND MY MAMA DON'T LET ME PICK IT UP! :\

Photobucket
It tried to get up but it fell down :(

Photobucket
A bat and a two-toed sloth sharing a fruit :)

Photobucket
Did you see what I saw? :X

Photobucket
Tree nymph caterpillar and pupae!
I love it :O!

Photobucket
A jaguar playing with his toy ball.

Photobucket
Leopard here though.
Do you know how to differentiate between a jaguar and a leopard?
Their spots! Jaguar's spots have spots in them, while a leopard's spots do not have.

Photobucket
AND TO MY DISMAY, THIS HAPPENED AT THE GIRAFFE EXHIBIT! T_T
I was so looking forward to see them...

Photobucket
I didn't see this sign at the entrance when I was going in...

The trip was really fun with my family/relatives + a friend. I'm glad my cousins were able to enjoy themselves at the zoo. As you know, the school excursions to the zoo, they only bring the students to a lecture room and after the lecture, they were brought back to the school :\ How lame is that!

I did get to see some sights I didn't get to see when I was there previously. For example, we managed to see an ostrich shitting... It was damn gross... It came out from its ass like a murky green waterfall :\ Like ew. We didn't see everything as we skipped some monkeys out. THE SINGAPORE ZOO HAS TOO MANY SPECIES OF MONKEYS D: Got tired of seeing so many of them... And also it's weird to see birds in the zoo... There are cassowarys, ostrichs, parrots, penguins and crowned pigeons in the zoo! Hey, what is the Jurong Bird Park for?

And, and, and I'm still disappointed that I didn't get to see my no.1 favourite animal, the giraffe!

Photobucket
& yay! The library at Lot 1 has all the books from "In the Garden" trilogy.
Time to rest NDS! Reading time~ :D

Photobucket
Final picture: group shot.

Thank you again to Joshua's mama! She made 8 people very happy. Thus the 8 people said their thanks 8 times. And Joshua's mama replied the 8x the "thanks" with 8x the "welcome". That was very cute of her xD Btw, thanks again and sorry for the trouble ^^'''
